Another screengrab release (0.6) September 20, 2005
Posted by andy in : coding , trackbackWOOO!!!
Screengrab 0.6 is out.
In an exciting development, I have fixed some bugs.
Support for more locales should be coming soon I hope.
Excerpt from the main page follows:
===============
Pretty maintenancey release really. I …
- …fixed the amusing problem with mozilla.org, and hopefully any other webpage that has strange horizontal banding issues.
- …made better error messages. Problems are usually that Java isn’t configured.
- …fixed a stupid bug where I was calling a method that doesn’t exist
- …fixed some SecurityException problems (I hope - feedback on this would be good)
- …fixed problems with context menu obscuring view in some Linux variants (I hope)
- …made my update rdf actually work (I think)

This is absolutely, positively, the single best friggin’ extension for Firefox that has ever come out, and I’ve been using this browser since it inception as Phoenix 0.1
If I were a girl, I would lay down in the hallway and have sex with you!
Okay, folks, does that tell you how much I like this add-on?
…
how awkward.
Yes, I know — and pretty much impossible to respond to. I did that on purpose…
Blogging is a double-edged sword. Words afford both honesty and vulnerability. The trick is tell others how you honestly feel, but not allow them to attack you, and to those ends, I’m an expert.
Suffice to say, I like your extension a great deal. I have been looking for just such a utility for (literally) years. I have tried many, many, Windows utilities to no avail, but your extensions fits the bill perfectly.
Many things in life are hard and simple at the same time. If I was to say to you, Andy, “How can I lose weight?”, the answer would be simple. Even a 6 year-old could answer this question, but losing weight is very hard to do. It’s simple but hard, you know?
And, so it goes with trying to capture an entire web page, not just a segment of it…
For that, I applaude you!
Hello Andy,
i dont know, if you have got this feedback aber i use Firefox 1.0.7 and wenn i want to make a screengrab for a “document”, which is a little bit long then i get a error message from browser about a skript.
For a explanation, how i can fix it i would appreciate.
Thanks
Sergio
Andy,
I love your Screengrab extension for Firefox!
I have a question for you, is there any way you could create a similar extension that would grab and stitch together maps from websites using the movement buttons?
For example, I have been using a Norwegian map website, http://www.norgeibilder.no, to locate farms for genealogy purposes. I would love to be able to locate a farm manually, then have an extension that would click on the movement controls (twice each, as the map shifts by half of its height/width at a time), and stich together a 10×10 map grid of the surrounding countryside.
I could then insert the countryside image into Google Earth (which has horrible resolution maps of Norway rural areas), and share them with friends and family.
Any chance you could look into this for me? I’d be glad to give any assitance I can, or answer any questions about the idea for you.
hi andy,
i love your screengrab!
it would be very nice if you add flock-support ( www.flock.com )
Thanks Andy, for a great extension.
I use it often.
One thing I personally would like to see is the option to just copy to clipboard rather than save to file.
Nice work,
Eric
