More ScreenGrab… September 2, 2005
Posted by andy in : misc , trackbackHooray, my little Screen grab thing has been approved ![]()
HERE!
And it has its first positive review.
Of course, it gets OutOfMemory errors if you try to grab something too big and it has some interesting problems on (ironically enough) the Mozilla home page.
I guess I’ll get to the bottom of it eventually, but then again… this should make my extension obsolete.

step 3. profit!
hello,
On this page :
I propose a fully localized version of your extension.
Enjoy
Oops I meant here
Gosh ! wrong again, I put the link in plain text :
http://goofy37.perso.cegetel.net/screen_grab-0.4-with-locales.xpi
- that’s all for my usual goofy mistakes
Great extension, thanks!
I see that repeat the background when is fixed, like this: http://weblog.bitassa.net
Haha!! Goofy, you are hilarious. Any help with localisation is good, but I must ask… what did you do? I’d like to be internationally compliant but in Firefox I have no idea how to do it (having never looked).
Benjamí, I think that’s just the price we pay for this method of doing it. Ideally I’d be able to deal with things like that, but since I’m taking grabs externally I don’t think it’s possible. Robert O’Callahan’s changes to the Gecko source should make fixed backgrounds work much better I’d say.
And as for you bodhi… BWAHAHAHAHA!!
Excellent extension. One recommendation, one correction…
Recommendation: Can you make the 3 menu items in the context menu appear as one item (i.e., Screen Grab) and then have the 3 items appear as a submenu of the parent item.
Screen Grab > Save document as image…
Save viewport as image…
Save window as image…
Correction: Your webpage URL in the extension is incorrect. When you right click the extension in the Extensions window and select “Home Page” it takes you here:
http://www.5263.org/andy/screengrab/
This page is a dead-end with no information.
Well, help please. When I click on the Save window as image firefox closes, and I don’t think the image has been saved. At least not so as I can locate it.
What excatly is suppose to happen when I click on save?
An image is supposed to be saved southpawphilly, and Firefox is not supposed to crash. This doesn’t sound very good to me.
There must be something about your configuration that is problematic for the extension, since it has worked everywhere that I have tried it.
What other extensions are you running? Try disabling some to see if Screengrab works in isolation. What platform are you running on? Is Java configured correctly for Firefox? Please provide further information so that we can get to the bottom of this.
