So I finally had my chat with my honours supervisor.
The less interesting part of the conversation was about statistical language technology and my honours thesis.

The more interesting part of my chat was about babies and how they happen when you’re gay.

It turns out that the answer is “with difficulty” and at least a small portion of that is thanks to my friend and yours, John Howard…

I didn’t know this. But now I do.

If you are gay, it is now (or will be very soon) illegal for you to adopt a child in Australia.

I can barely begin to discuss how angry this makes me. So angry that I find it difficult to find the words to express that anger. Suffice it to say. ROOAARRRGGHH!!

So yes, the baby is a surrogate, of sorts. He is the genetic parent, which is quite cool and the mother is a friend. I think that will be one happy little kid, since it’ll have a damn cool dad.

Once again, yay that!

Incidentally (I tried to post this the other day but my blog was broken) my mate Ian is also having a baby! That’s bubba #2 for my favourite Blue Mountains family (except that Geoff’s family is also cool, so you’re tied for the lead).

It’s raining babies! Hallelujah!

I find your obsession with babies irrational and disturbing. Further, there is possibly alot to be said for a mother-figure - arguably more than a father figure - perhaps the surrogate will stick around and be part of the action. Of course it depends on the individuals…

It’s less of a surrogacy arrangement than it would appear.
They are all friends.

I think the child will have 2 fathers and a mother.

I also think that there’s something to be said for parents, but I wouldn’t say that you need a ‘mother figure’, unless by that definition you mean someone who will be the sensitive and caring one.

If that’s what you mean, then I don’t see how the sex of the person has anything to do with it as long as they provide that love.

As for babies and irrationality… I’m a big fan of babies. Goooo babies!!
