Sin City August 1, 2005

Really good. I was quite surprised actually.

I was kind of expecting it to be just an another ultra-violent romp full of gratuitous nudity and the beating of people, but stylish.

Turns out it was a lot better than I expected. Visually it is fantastic. Really really comic book style. Some of the shots are just awesome. Really really well composed. I couldn’t get over how good it looked. When I picture it in my memory it IS framed as shots in a comic book. It’s kind wierd.

I’m a sucker for movies with a background monologue, and this one had it just right. The dialogue was nicely cliched, awkward and just cool.

All in all, it was much better than I thought it would be.
Damn fine.

Yeah, visually stunning. Even watching it, I couldn’t shake the notion I was looking at a comic book … sorry, “graphic novel”, my bad. The use of high contrast black and white was especially cool.

I also thought the casting was brilliant.

Oh, and the make-up.

Ah, I just really enjoyed it.

And I hear there’s two more in the series to come, but I’m not enough of a comic book nerd … graphic novel enthusiast, to know these things for sure. But if they’re like Sin City, then I’ll be all over them (until I’m told to get off, that is).

Haha!! I forgot!

“Graphic Novel”.

Apologies to the comic book guy who wrote it. (Worst episode ever!)

Yeah. It was just stunning. Mickey Rourke was great. Really really great.
