The other day, I discovered that he is also… like… totally having a baby!
When I heard this via email, my first thought was… “but you’re gay, aren’t you?”.
I replayed all of our previous conversations in my head, or rather, just those ones pertinent to the analysis of another’s sexuality. From that ponderance I was fairly certain that when he said things like “my partner’s a money person too. He works stupid hours and gets paid lots” it wasn’t a complete slip of the tongue.
Nonetheless, I lacked confidence in my conviction so I crafted a sexuality-neutral email that I hoped would illicit responses containing more information. Crafty.
But yes, the response clearly indicated that he is indeed still a flaaaming homosexual and is also going to be a dad. How great is that?
Pretty great!!
The question that remains in my mind is… HOW? Surrogacy? Adoption? What are the current options for the modern gay couple hoping to start a family?
I don’t know the answers, but when we sit down on Monday for our first chat about study in the last month or so, I’ll be sure to waste most of the time grilling him for details.
