A week of food: Day 3 July 19, 2005

If I had been born a squid, and I had been granted the choice over how I would like to go…

I think I’d choose to become Salt and Pepper Squid.

Just think about how delicious YOU would be…

Thought about it??

You’d be very delicious.

It seems to me that I have lost the approval of my audience. When I started this blog it was so full of hope and a love of the future. Now it seems that those whose support I relied upon to write amusing comments have departed, and with them has gone the heart and soul of life.

I’m bored.

A little. :)

But pie comes later. Oh boy oh boy… if only you knew what was on tonight’s menu…

If only I knew…

Jen made the best meat pie the other few days (we ended up having it 4 times in 9 days). It is now officially my favourite food.

I don’t know if I’d like squid or not.
Calamari rings are ok… so maybe.

It’s so hot. I think your site needs more explosions.

5. andy - July 20, 2005

Yes. I can see that more explosions might be good…

Ian… I’ve just been thinking about how much I love pies…
What was in that deliciouspie?

For the squid, think of the dinner as calamari moebius strips.

I wonder whether squid pie could work. I don’t think it could…

I once made a squid curry. It wasn’t very good. It probably didn’t help that the squid had been living in the freezer for six months. But it gave everything else in the freezer a pleasant squiddy taste. Especially the ice cubes, they seemed to attract more squidly drizzle than anything else. Ever had lemonade with squid cubes?

I thought not.

It was a meat pie. Full of (cow)meat. IT also had some potato and bacon ond herbs. I’m not sure what else. I can look for the recipe if you want.

My Nana used to make lemonade ice cubes, and then drop them into her lemonade so they didn’t water it down as they melted.

Your Nana sounds like she may have had an unhealthy obsession with lemonade… My last pie was snail pie, with spinach. Haven’t had the appetite for pies since. It’s amazing how often conversations turn to pies - I have had reason (not good reason, just reason) to comment on snail pie at least once a week for the last couple of months! Go figure.
